A return to form (of sorts) for Boulder via Chicago via Milwaukee producer Generalife, who originally cut his teeth DJing and producing electro house in that genre's hayday of the mid- to late-Aughties. Eventually incorporating mysticism, field recordings, and outsider music influences, this weird brand of basement dance music culminated in 2013's "Plutoniques", which subverted house and jungle rhythms to an unrecognizable, and nearly undanceable degree. "Venusian Workout" is once again geared solely for the floor, with three straight bangers that reconcile creeped out mysticism with heavy hitting rhythmic workouts; the centerpiece of which is the ten minute deep dub techno groove "Contemplating Babylon". The EP is rounded out with a raw track produced several years ago with frequent collaborator and spiritual brother ooftu, followed by a tribal outro for tired ears.
